Maryam Memarsdeghi, co-founder and co-director of the Tavaana website, is an expert in programs that promote democracy and defend Internet freedom, women’s rights, and civil rights around the world. She has fifteen years of experience in capacity building in civil society in the Middle East and other regions, including three post-conflict projects in the Balkans. Prior to that, Maryam directed the Middle East programs at Freedom House and was active in the International Organization for Migration and the International Rescue Committee. She passionately believes in the power of technology and its ability to elevate, empower, and liberate
